Administrative Assistant - Southfield, MI

The part-time Administrative Assistant will provide administrative support to the Southfield, MI office.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Office operations:
    • Greeting office visitors & solicitors/receptionist duties 
    • General office tasks (presentation binding, filing, scheduling meetings, etc.)
    • Assisting staff with general office administrative tasks
    • Manage training room and meeting room availability
    • Maintain office equipment (copier/fax/printer)
    • Inventory/tidy storage and supply areas
    • Ordering office supplies and other purchasing requests
    • Answering and monitoring main phone line
    • Making travel arrangements
    • Processing expense reports, invoices and company credit card charges
    • Ordering lunch for company meetings
    • Assist with building maintenance issues/liaison with building management
    • Shipping & receiving all packages; mailbox/package pickup from building mailroom
  • Marketing Admin Tasks: 
    • Southfield Training (tidy the training room, purchase snacks/beverages, stock refrigerator, monitor beverages/coffee & tea appliances throughout day, make name tags/sign in sheets, print certificates, order lunch, POC for visiting trainers and attendees, pull training feedback reports from vista-survey and distribute to instructors)
    • Process business card orders
    • Travel arrangements for Sales/Marketing events (company meetings, seminars, expos, conferences)
    • Tradeshow logistics (scheduling shipments and help pack/unpack shipments)
    • Assist with venue selection research for internal/external events
    • Miscellaneous admin tasks

Required Qualifications: 

  • Associate’s Degree
  • 2-3 years of related administrative and office experience
  • Computer proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Strong organizational skills/ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • High degree of motivation with a good work ethic

Applications Engineer - Southfield, MI

The Applications Engineer will provide pre- and post-sales technical software support to nCode customers and the HBM-nCode sales team.  In this position, you will support the use of nCode DesignLife software for finite element (FE) based fatigue and durability prediction.

You should apply for this position if you: 

  • enjoy working with customers to understand their durability analysis requirements, mentoring customers in the use of nCode software to meet these requirements
  • have extensive knowledge of industry-standard CAE software and practices

Position Responsibilities:

  • Understand customers’ finite element and durability analysis requirements
  • Demonstrate nCode DesignLife software to current and prospective customers
  • Provide technical support to nCode users, investigating requirements and proposing solutions
  • Mentor users on best practices when using nCode software
  • Present nCode software training courses for customers
  • Test nCode software releases for functionality and quality
  • Provide feedback to HBM-nCode product management on future software functionality

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably mechanical or civil
  • Practical knowledge of CAE-based structural analysis, including pre/post-processors, solvers, analysis techniques, and best practices
  • Knowledge of industry-standard FE analysis software like ANSYS, Abaqus, or NASTRAN
  • Ability to listen to customers and understand their technical requirements
  • Good presentation skills, both written and verbal
  • Proven ability to work independently
  • Interest in working in a commercial environment
  • US citizenship/Green Card/current H1B Visa holder

Nice to have qualifications: 

  • 3+ years as a software application engineer (AE), interfacing with customers on software usage
  • Knowledge of engineering durability topics such as fatigue and structural analysis

Contracts Administrator/Facility Security Officer - Starkville, MS

The Contracts Administrator role is responsible for managing contract communications and delivering customer invoices. The Facility Security Officer role is responsible for ensuring that the Federal Team is in compliance with the Defense Security Services (DSS) agreements, including training, monitoring and reporting. 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Contracts Administrator:
    • Manage contract information in QuickBase, plus travel and material 
    • Work w/ Engineering Director to compile monthly labor totals and performance reports
    • Compile and deliver customer invoices
    • Act as point of contact to the prime contractor for contract modifications
    • Track labor allocations for all contracts
    • Perform other duties as required
  • Facility Security Officer:
    • Act as primary point of contact for DSS Industrial Representative 
    • Maintain day-to-day oversight to insure compliance of Affiliate Operations Plan, Facility co-Location Plan, Technology Control Plan, Electronic Communications Plan and Visitation Procedures
    • Manage organizational security clearances in JPAS
    • Provide and track organizational security training
    • Perform information audits as specified in DSS approved facility clearance plans
    • Perform semi-annual security self-inspections
    • Support quarterly LLC board meetings regarding security briefings
    • Manage QuickBase visitor and face-to-face affiliate meetings

Qualifications: 

  • US Citizen (Requirement)
  • Ability to qualify for DOD security clearance
  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent)
  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience
  • Prior experience with the US military is a plus
  • Prior experience in government contract administration and/or sales support
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written

Maintenance and Materials Testing Engineer - Sheffield / Rotherham, UK

This is an excellent opportunity for a Maintenance and Materials Testing Engineer to join a world leading company based at the Advanced Manufacturing Park, Catcliffe, Rotherham.

The company is involved in testing materials to provide fatigue and tensile properties for its internal and external customer base. 

This role encompasses many different skills and would ideally suit someone with a mixture of practical and theoretical skills or similar person who has both the ability and wish to extend their present knowledge to fatigue and tensile testing. 

Qualified to BTEC, ONC, HND, HNC or City & Guilds or higher. Your core competencies should be materials testing and machinery maintenance with an excellent knowledge of hydraulics and electronics.

This role would suit someone who has previously worked in a materials testing / laboratory environment.

The core skills that you should possess and be able to demonstrate are:

  • Hydraulics (Installation, Maintenance and Repair)
  • Electronics (including knowledge of three phase)
  • Lathe / Machine Tool Experience (Miller, Polishing, Grinding and similar)
  • General Maintenance of Hydraulic and Electrical Systems (Preventative and Reactive)
  • Skilled in Fabrication Work (Including Welding)
  • Health and Safety aware including Risk Assessments  

The position will involve:

  • Testing the tensile and fatigue properties of materials in-house. This will include a range of metals, plastics and composites from a variety of industrial sectors. 
  • The day-to-day setting up, managing and supervision of these tests.
  • Thermal and climatic testing using furnaces and climatic chamber.
  • Working with the Laboratory Manager to maintain calibration (both internal and subcontracted). Verify the operation of and trouble shoot the main test rigs as well as key pieces of supporting equipment such as extensometers.

In addition to the above skills it would desirable if you have experience of:

  • Practical experience of mechanical testing using servo-hydraulic and electromechanical test machines.
  • Knowledge of tensile and/or fatigue testing of materials.
  • Experience of testing techniques and standards such as the ones produced by ASTM, BS, BS EN, BS EN ISO and ISO. Examples are BS 7270 and BS EN ISO 6892-1.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Global sales order processing including:

Senior Java Developer - Sheffield / Rotherham, UK

We are seeking an experienced Java Developer to join our Enterprise Software Team. The successful candidate will be working on a mature enterprise product based on ORACLE or MySQL databases and either Websphere, JBOSS or Wildfly web application servers. Coding is based on Java, Javascript, HTML and SQL.  

To succeed in this role, you will be able to, or learn how to, work on all aspects of the product including problem resolution, refactoring existing code, adding functionality, testing and deployment.

It is essential for the successful candidate to be able to work in a team but also be willing to show initiative in understanding the complex interactions between the system components.

Senior Java Developer - Sheffield / Rotherham, UK

HBM UK are looking for a Senior Java Developer to help drive their next generation web solutions that empower the engineering community. As part of the HBM Prenscia strategic segment we are committed to the development of innovative concepts for improving reliability, availability, maintainability, safety, and durability, while reducing risk across a broad range of applications.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of developing substantial multi-tier web applications, ideally with experience in front-end, middleware and database development. Strong Java skills are expected, with knowledge of JavaScript and associated front-end toolkits an advantage. The role will require the candidate to have the ability to analyse requirements, create detailed specifications, code and perform code reviews as part of the company’s ISO approved quality system. 

HBM UK has been developing using the Scrum method of Agile development for 5 years and is now transitioning to Scaled Agile (SAFe) enabling cross-team planning driven by strong product-driven functional requirements. A team-based ethos is essential when working in this environment and the role demands frequent interaction with other team members that will include developers, testers, architects, engineers, technical writers and product owners. 

Experience with HBM’s chosen technology stack is desirable but equivalent technologies can be substituted if the candidate demonstrates an understanding of the functionality of the technology layers, with preferably some comparative analysis of alternate products.
